Sir Thomas More saying goodbye to his beloved wife and children. Thomas More was a devout defender of the Catholic Church. He felt he could no longer serve as Chancellor to Henry VIII and resigned his position. Unfortunately, this was the beginning of the end for More, who continued to argue against Protestantism and thus was tried and executed in July 1535.
The original painting, acrylic on canvas, size 40" x 50" hangs in the side alter at Saint Thomas More Church in Narragansett, RI.
